Time in a Bottle, INC was born in April and unveiled on June 23, 2011. Thank You to all that made it happen and are still making it happen … it is an infant right now and keeping us up at night!
The mission of Time in a Bottle INC is to provide precious “time” to parents that are dealing with the hope and care of their children becoming survivors of not only cancer, but any other life threatening illness that requires multiple hours away from home and family.
Absolutely Clean has given away well over $100,000 dollars in free cleans over the years and we decided to take it to the next level this year when we had to turn children and their families away because we ran out of funds to pay the payroll for these cleans. I, Stephanie, the owner of Absolutely Clean, have not taken a paycheck for many years to fund this cause. It’s ok .. it’s my passion and I have the best husband in the world who supports me 100%! I am tired of saying “I’m sorry” so with the birth of Time in a Bottle Inc and the help of many, we will be saying “yes, we can help” … soon!
We see maid services all across the nation joining us on this mission . Once all the details are in motion we will present this to the Association for Residential Cleaning Services International for their help. Baby steps. At this time we need FUNDS to help us with our trademark , website development … all that comes with a nationwide non profit. That is where we stand today and we at Absolutely Clean are cleaning already for Time in a Bottle.
Ok … I’ll give you a little more information!
Our Community Appreciation party gave us a start with $1189.60. Silent Auction, Cedar Rapids own Hot Dog Vendor was there and handed us $150.00 from his sales and will be back next year… wow! We sold over 3000 ten cent tickets for our games, bouncy houses, cotton candy and snow cones… we didn’t break even but we KNOW what we can do next year now and that money is sitting in Linn Area Credit Union waiting for our board’s next move.
A little more? Ok…
Cleaning is for the parents but we wanted to touch the lives of children that have had “normal” turned upside down with something special besides extra time with mom and or dad, so when Katie Koopman’s dolls popped up I asked her to please join me in branding Time in a Bottle. She so very generously said “yes!”. I am looking now to get fabric donated so she can make us more dolls for our cause! We have children that need us and dolls to be made! She is donating $5 per doll that is custom made for other people to Time in a bottle. She is also working on a pattern that we can send out to all maid services that join our cause so they too can find a special seamstress and have another avenue to raise funds for such a worthy cause! Each and every child we offer our service to will receive a doll! The first dolls made for Time in a Bottle were Piper and Milo. We talked about what to name the collection, the following is what Katie has posted on her new facebook fanpage:
From the American Cancer Society: “Daffodil Days is one of the American Cancer Society’s oldest and most beloved fundraising programs. As the first flower of spring, the daffodil represents hope and renewal. To the American Cancer Society, the daffodil symbolizes the hope we all share for a future where cancer no longer threatens those we love.”
Daffodolls are my contribution to a local non-profit, Time in a Bottle. Time in a Bottle is dedicated to cleaning homes (for free!) for families who have children going through cancer treatment. My dolls will help bring in money to fund this awesome mission. For each doll sold, I’m donating $5 to Time in a Bottle.
The first cancer clean (we have done so many…) that really spurred me to take what we have done for so long, to another level, was for Jordyn. We have cleaned there from a weekly basis to a now biweekly basis since November of 2010. On June 23 at our Customer/Fan Appreciation Party , she and her mom helped us unveil our non profit with the Marion Chamber of Commerce, she was given Piper by Katie herself! I have Milo … he will forever sit in my office as a daily reminder of why I work so hard. Katie has joined me with her dolls – her spirit is in every doll she crafts. Won’t you join me too?
