Say YES to Yourself

baby kristian andersonPooping in my pants was one of my earliest memories growing up, when I was 4 (I was the fourth child of 5 kids.) You might think, “So what? My child did that all the time at 4”. I would agree, my son (who is 4) has ‘accidents’ and I figured out last year in our Holiday Letter, when we had 3 kids still in diapers that we probably collected or changed over 1 ton of diapers the previous year…. But, I was fully potty-trained and conscious of my actions.

This was a premeditated act of attention, carefully diagrammed in my mind and carried out with precision to garner a cry for ‘notice me now’! Sure, it worked – but it also backfired, my older brothers and sister had a GREAT laugh at my expense, my mother made me take a bath in the middle of the day(ugh!) and my baby sister still got all of the attention from my mom. Not the reaction - I was going for.

Time to be Selfish

quarterTime for me to be a little selfish.

You ever wonder what makes people give? what is the catalyst that says.. yep, I need to pull some change out of my pocket? I know what makes me give.  It's totally selfish.  I feel good after I give.  I get goosebumps when I see someone else happy.  It's a drug.

So...we put out there that we were going to give 1,000 to a family in need - we got a few emails.  We set some parameters because we are looking for REAL, DESPERATE NEED.  Desperate as in DESPERATE.  After some research... they may be in need and we are completely compassionate but desperate?   nah

Small hrWhat is: Time in a Bottle?

Time in a Bottle, INC was born in April and unveiled on June 23, 2011.

The mission of Time in a Bottle INC is to provide precious “time” to parents that are dealing with the hope and care of their children becoming survivors of not only cancer, but any other life threatening illness that requires multiple hours away from home and family.

Cleaning is for the parents but we wanted to touch the lives of children that have had “normal” turned upside down with something special besides extra time with mom and or dad, so when Katie Koopman’s dolls popped up I asked her to please join me in branding Time in a Bottle. She so very generously said “yes!”. I am looking now to get fabric donated so she can make us more dolls for our cause! We have children that need us and dolls to be made! She is donating $5 per doll that is custom made for other people to Time in a Bottle. She is also working on a pattern that we can send out to all maid services that join our cause so they too can find a special seamstress and have another avenue to raise funds for such a worthy cause! Each and every child we offer our service to will receive a doll! The first dolls made for Time in a Bottle were Piper and Milo.

Check Out Our Website to see how you can help the cause. We have started online auctions to help fund Time In a Bottle, keep an eye out for new available for bidding!

Small hrCoat Collection for the Homeless

"When my sons were Boy Scouts we went to Green Square meals to help prepare and serve meals. We hung our coats up at the entrance. When we returned at the end of the evening to go home our coats were gone. We found out that this is where they hang stuff that people may need. This is a most basic place where we can help others on a cold night. We will drop your coats off and hang them for someone to take home. Please donate!" - Stephanie

Absolutely Clean will be volunteering with meals and leaving winter coats for the homeless to take with them after their meal. So for the month of November please help us by donating your old and new coats! Time to make those last minute tax deductible donations!  Don't forget your punch card, a punch per donation gets you closer to qualifying for a free 2 hour cleaning!

THANKS to everyone who donated to Time in a Bottle in September! Keep up all the good work!

Time is Precious

alarm_clockI am at home working in thirty minute stretches because I find it hard to get up from my desk without bothering the rest of my staff so it’s best that I work from home! Also --- not a good idea that I drive today on these meds. WE would get nothing done and it would be all my fault… right ladies?   I am pondering what time means… once again.  Sometimes I think God throws these wrenches at me to slow me down. I have slowed WAAAAAAAAY down.

I’m pondering how we choose to react to certain things in our lives… that shape who we are and those around us. It’s amazing to me how one reaction can change the course of things and equally amazing that HOW we react to it … produces a certain result.

GOAL!

arrow on targetAs Anne walks out the door today and say's "Thursday Thought?" ,    (Anne helps me with the details of our marketing and Dana with the details of our scheduling and daily reports! She is one of the four of us that will answer the phones here when you call.  She rocks and is so organized )   I respond .. " Have fun in Vegas "-- a smile and "I haven't thought about it yet.. ".
The next moment I get a text from my husband that says: My goals are clear and I am occupied with them.  This is a pretty cool thought, if not an enduring principle.

YEP ...

Want to know what my thirty day goals are?  I'm expecting to see yours listed on our page if you are joining us today at 6pm -- Thomas Park.  I'll let you jump in at any time but.. My goals are clear.

30 Day Challenge

30-Day-ChallengeSo… I used to be thin. I used to run 5 miles a day. I “used to”…. I am so tired of this phrase. It goes along with “I wish I was thin”, “I wish I still was a runner”, “I wish we could raise more money”, “I wish, I wish…”   What happened after that second marathon? Do you have mantras like this?

If my internal house is in order, my actual home order follows. Because of this and the general lack of order I am feeling lately, I am bringing you into how my brain operates.

When the disorder inside happens, I start to rearrange furniture, clean out closets, pull my staff In for meetings where we rehash EVERYTHING and generally come up with a new sense of order that I and my company always grow from. THAT is what is going on right now (ask Dana, Anne and Nick what we have been doing all week..). My carpets are being cleaned as I type and new doors and baseboards are being installed in my basement… ORDER and cleanliness. Now for the inner house so the actual house STAYS that way, here is how this all started (at least this time!).

Excuses… the word “can’t” in my house is as bad if not worse than shouting the F-bomb! I can’t even function in my home unless everything is put away… do I?   Cough
